Graduates singing and reciting poetry were filmed. President Brock Thomas and a graduate were also interviewed as part of the story.  The Foundation is extrememely grateful to Sherry Williams and the KHOU staff and owners for publicizing the STAR Court.

Now practicing law privately,  he supports the drug courts by presenting to community groups as well as leading the Foundation. Recently Mr. Thomas spoke with the Exchange Club about the Foundations’ activities on behalf of STAR Court.

Drug Courts offer non-violent drug addicted individuals a chance to turn their lives around. Strict Court supervision along with intensive treatment and oversight provide the participant a way to rehabilitate. The basics of drug court, however, are not enough for success. Participants need many services to make their transition from the life of an addicted felon to that of recovered citizen. These services are termed  Recovery Support Services and research and experience have proven that they are vital for success.  Early in 2010 the Harris County Drug Court Foundation commissioned a paper to explore this issue. The paper,  Wraparound Services to Drive Down Recidivism for Harris County Drug Court Clients, by Challen, Sharma, Thomas, and Wingfiled can be viewed in its entirety here.
